My English II curriculum is a work-in-progress. Here are some strategies I’ve stolen from blogs, professional development, and Ms. Jessee.
Aside from preparing students for the English II EOI (REQUIRED for high school graduation), my aim is to prepare students for a variety of critical and literary situations.
Students who pass my class will be able to think critically about work of literature by exploring themes, concepts, and academic vocabulary relevant to the 10th grade plight. From our 10th grade platform, we will dive off into philosophical waters with our phloaties (philosophical floaties). Through writing, we will explore the complexities of human nature and express ourselves via one of the greatest marks of civilization.
My aim is to prepare students for life, to teach them to absorb and appreciate what they read and to use what they have absorbed for the greater good.
